Free Student Debt Counseling for New Yorkers
Student debt is a significant issue facing the early childhood community. Teachers, staff and directors in early childhood programs are often required to be highly credentialed but struggle to pay off student loans while working in the field.
The Day Care Council of New York is proud to be part of the Education Debt Consumer Assistance Program (EDCAP) to bring free student debt counseling to members of the child care community, including staff and parents, to navigate repayment plans, forgiveness programs, and establish financial security with student debt.
Even with the Supreme Court Decision on the Biden-Harris Student Debt Relief Plan, there are many ways to get your student loans forgiven!
Our services are offered to all New York State residents in both English and Spanish without any prerequisites to schedule an appointment. We specialize in serving the early childhood community including teachers, staff, and directors in child care programs and parents of children receiving child care.
Our services include:

- Accessing student loan forgiveness programs that may fit your qualifications
- Securing your financial future
- Mediating with loan servicers
- Getting referrals for supplementary resources
DCCNY will also provide group counseling online or on site at child care centers and community based organizations throughout New York State.
